Day 1, Arrival

After picking you up from the airport we take you to your first accommodation in northern outskirts of Windhoek, where we will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast. Afterwards you take over your bikes and are able to take a first short tour on gravel.  Of course we also want to get to know you better, want to learn more about your wishes and expectations and will have a few words on the routing and “rules” regarding the tour. In the evening we will either drive into town for dinner or, according to the group’s decision, spoil ourselves in the restaurant at your accommodation.

Day 2, Windhoek - Camp Gecko    200 km

The tarred road ends a few kilometres outside Windhoek and we continue our south-western journey on graded gravel roads. We travel in a south-westerly direction through the Khomas-Hochland towards its western escarpment, which borders to the lower-lying eastern Namib Desert. The Spreetshoogte Pass grants us terrific views onto the desert. From the pass summit we descent several hundred metres, reaching the foot of the pass we only have 25 km left to Camp Gecko, our destination for today. Here the Enduro upfront-team has already put-up our camp.

Day 3, Camp Gecko – Sossusvlei – Camp Gecko   240 km

Today we get started before dawn in order to reach the Sossusvlei entrance in due time. As bikes are not allowed in the national park, we change to a 4x4 vehicle and drive into Sossusvlei, to experience some of the highest dunes in the world, up close and personal. Back at Camp Gecko a shower and a decent dinner under an impressive, starry sky awaits us.

Day 4, Camp Gecko – Swakopmund   285 km

Today our destination is Swakopmund. Across the Namib Naukluft Park and the Kuiseb Canyon we ride to Walvis Bay. Even though we are not allowed to leave the transit road with the bikes, chances are still good that we can spot various antelopes, ostriches and other game. We spend the next two nights in a good hotel in town.

Day 5, Swakopmund

This day belongs to Swakopmund and its surroundings. Optional activities are: A dolphin cruise in Walvis Bay, Quad biking or sand boarding in the dunes or tandem skydiving. One of the Enduro treats is an excursion on bike to the Moon Landscape, an impressive scenery, formed in the course of time by the Swakop River. The first part of the trip we travel in the dry riverbed of the Swakop. We will also get to see Namibia’s famous “primordial plant” the Welwitschia mirabilis. Anyone preferring to get to know Swakopmund better is of course welcome to spend the afternoon in town.

Day 6, Swakopmund – Brandberg, Rhino Camp     220 km

From Swakopmund we ride via Hentiesbay to Cape Cross on roads made of sea salt. Some kilometres north of Cape Cross we leave the coastal road and turn northwards on gravel road towards the Brandberg. This immense mountain range dominates the landscape of the surrounding area. Here you find Namibias highest mountain, the Königstein. We travel along its western side to a magnificent camp.  Our tents are already pitched on the „banks“ of the dry Ugab River. Cool drinks, a tasty dinner and maybe some Elephants wandering through the camp await us.

Day 7, Rhino Camp – White Lady Camp  145 km

On gravel road we circumnavigate the south side of the Brandberg and pass through a mineralogically extremely interesting area. Our path leads us through the villages of mineral prospectors. We have a short break in the former mine town of Uis, from here we are only 35 kilometres away from today’s destination, the White Lady Camp. Once more the Ugab is an amazing place for us to spend the night.  With a bit of luck we might get to see Elephants crossing the camp on search for water.

Day 8, White Lady Camp – Grootberg Pass   280 km

Today we travel on gravel road to the impressive Grootberg Pass. En route we pass the little town of Khorixas where we have the opportunity to have lunch. The Grootberg Pass is not very challenging to ride, but it offers some fascinating views onto the table mountains and the plains below. Descending the pass, we once again might be lucky enough to come across some tracks of the wild elephants living in the area. At the foot of the pass a superb camp is found, which is run by the local community.

Day 9, Grootberg Pass - Aba Huab Camp   130 km

From our camp at the foot of the Grootberg Pass we continue on gravel to Palmwag and from there further to Twyfelfontein. The organ pipes nearby are a geological attraction we might like to have a closer look at. At the Aba Huab Camp we pitch our tents and enjoy the evening with a good meal and cool drinks.

Day 10, Aba Huab – Brandberg, White Lady   95 km

In the morning we take a walk to the rock engravings of Twyfelfontein, which are part of the world heritage site. After the visit of the rock engravings we ride on desolate but never boring roads towards the north-eastern side of the Brandberg Massif. This 100 km leg is comparatively short, but from the riding point of view quite demanding, definitively Enduro-indulgence.  Following the course of the Ugab River we, for a second time, reach the White Lady Camp, which once more is an amazing place for us to spend the night.

Day 11, White Lady Camp - Erongo Plateau Camp   209 km

Back on graded gravel road we travel to yet another mountain range, the Erongo Mountains, the remains of a once tremendous volcano. Tonight we camp on a hill with beautiful views onto the surrounding landscapes.

Day 12, Erongo – Windhoek   275 km

The last day of riding does not hold any off-road surprises anymore. On gravel we ride towards Windhoek. From Wilhelmstal the route is once more especially beautiful and in our opinion a worthy finishing stretch.

Day 13, Windhoek

Time to relax after the tour, to do some sightseeing in Windhoek and to buy some souvenirs. In the evening we drive into town to have ourselves spoilt with a farewell dinner at a restaurant.
