Day 1, Arrival
After picking you up from the airport we take you to your first accommodation in northern outskirts of Windhoek, where we will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast. Afterwards you take over your bikes and are able to take a first short tour on gravel. Of course we also want to get to know you better, want to learn more about your wishes and expectations and will have a few words on the routing and “rules” regarding the tour. In the evening we will either drive into town for dinner or, depending on the group’s decision, have ourselves spoiled in the restaurant at your accommodation.
Day 2, Windhoek - Spitzkoppe 316 km
We travel north-westerly through the mountainous Khomas-Hochland on beautiful gravel road with fascinating scenery. The gravel roads are not too challenging and thus perfect for accustoming ourselves to for more difficult terrain to come. The Enduro upfront-team has already put-up our camp at the Spitzkoppe, today’s destination and awaits us with cool drinks and a tasty dinner.
Day 3, Spitzkoppe - Brandberg 160 km
After yesterdays relatively long distance covered we only have to ride about 160 km today. However, we also leave the well-kept gravel roads for the first time and ride on real bush trails – joy for every Endurist. North of the Brandberg Massif runs the dry riverbed of the Ugab. On its „banks“ we find our tents and the tables are already laid. Sometimes elephants move through the camp in search of food.
Day 4, Brandberg - Aba Huab 200 km
We circumnavigate the south side of the Brandberg and get regular sightings of antelopes, ostriches and other game. West of the Brandberg we come across the Ugab once more before continuing on secluded off-road track through the landscapes of Damaraland. Our tents are pitched at another dry riverbed, the Aba Huab.
Day 5, Aba Huab - Opuwo 340 km
Today a longer, but compared to the previous day, easy to ride route is on our agenda. On well maintained gravel roads we ride through northern Damaraland, Palmwag Lodge and Ongongo Spring invite us for a break in between. Via the former German police station Sesfontein we carry on northwards to Opuwo. We are already being expected at the campsite of the Opuwo Country Lodge.
Day 6, Opuwo - Epupa Falls 230 km
Today’s destination is the Epupa Falls on the Kunene River. Passing Epembe we reach Swartbooisdrift, formerly used as a ford through the Kunene to Angola. From here, with the Kunene always visible on our right hand side, we ride off-road until reaching Epupa Falls. Here we have reached the northernmost point of our tour. Under the palms we enjoy our meal, the starry sky and whatever the bar has to offer for those who like.
Day 7, Epupa Falls - Camp Syncro 220 km
Today the routing is again an Enduro treat. The descent into the Marienfluss valley leads us over Van Zyl´s Pass. For many this pass is plainly the off-road challenge in Namibia. After reaching the Marienfluss valley we turn north towards the banks of the Kunene River on sandy tracks. Due to the abundance of crocodiles in the river we have to do without a refreshing swim. Nevertheless, the camp is a fantastically beautiful place to relax from the exhausting kilometres travelled.
Day 8,Camp Syncro - Camp Marble 100 km
After yesterdays exhausting routing we only have 100 km ahead of us today. We follow the Marienfluss to the south, pass Red Drum, cross a mountain range before reaching Camp Marble. Part of Enduro Namibia is already expecting us with pitched tents, getting ready to prepare a tasty dinner.
Day 9, Camp Marble - Purros 120 km
Today we can once more look forward to a wonderful Enduro ride. The routing follows the course of two dry riverbeds. In between we again have to cross a small mountain range. Every now and then we pass solitary homesteads of the Himba community. A superb camp, run by the local community, awaits us where chances are good to meet the unique desert-dwelling elephants, which may pass through the camp. To observe these animals is a real pleasure, but caution is advised.
Day 10, Purros - Grootberg Pass 250 km
Today’s destination is the Grootberg Pass, in the vicinity of Warmquelle, a spring invites us for a swim. We won’t refuse. It is still worthwhile to keep an eye open for wildlife on our way south. In the Palmwag area, nomadic herds of elephant and giraffe are often seen from the road. Our tents are once again pitched on a brilliant, communal campsite.
Day 11, Grootberg Pass - Khorixas 180 km
Through an impressive landscape of table mountains we reach the mining town, Khorixas.
Day 12, Khorixas - Erongo 270 km
Once more a scenic highlight awaits us: the Erongo Mountains, remains of a once enormous volcano. Tonight we camp on a hill with beautiful views onto the surrounding landscapes. We enjoy the evening with a good meal and a brilliant, starry sky.
Day 13, Erongo - Windhoek 270 km
We start our engines early in order to have sufficient time left for the capital of the country. The roads are not particularly demanding on our capabilities anymore. During the past days we manage much more challenging routes. The last leg is on tar – relaxed we roll towards Windhoek.
